Castillo de Santa Ana

The magnificent 17th century structure proudly stands along Roquetas de Mar's coast, protecting the town from a navy attack. You can find Castillo de Santa Ana adjacent to the harbour where you can enjoy watching the boats as they come in to dock. There's a palm tree lined seating area near the entrance of the castle where you can sit, have a spot of lunch and enjoy the picturesque scenery.

The striking sandstone castle was once used as a refuge for the people of the town when the area was under attack. Some of the building was destroyed in battle, which tore down three of the towers and castle walls. The building was recovered and restored so visitors can learn more about the history of the time period.

Castillo de Santa Ana is home to several exhibition halls that display art, photography and historic artefacts. The main courtyard is also used for open air concerts and performances during the summer.
